Beethoven Piano Concertos I

In 2027, to celebrate Beethoven’s anniversary, we can look forward to a particularly prestigious series of concerts. Star pianist Lang Lang and Andris Nelsons, Music Director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Gewandhauskapellmeister, are inviting us to join them for a festival of Beethoven’s music. In five concerts, they will perform all five Piano Concertos as well as symphonies by the great composer from Bonn. The cycle begins with a performance by our guest musicians from America and combines Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto with Stravinsky’s Le Sacre du Printemps. Stravinsky‘s scandalous ballet music is a great showpiece for this acclaimed ensemble from Boston, as the orchestra has a special connection to him that originates from its Koussevitzky years. What is more, Stravinsky himself loved to have his works performed by the BSO. You will know why when you hear the brilliant brass section and the jazz-trained percussionists.
