Danae Dörken & Johanna Summer

The scene is set. There are two grand pianos on the stage and two pianists, each with a different role to play. One pianist is there to perform a piece of classical music while the other improvises on the very same work. A dialogue between the two evolves as they play. This unique idea of combining a classical and an improvised interpretation of the same piece of music was developed by jazz pianist Johanna Summer, who has enjoyed great success at various venues ranging from the Lucerne Festival to the Philharmonie Luxembourg. Audiences are amazed and mesmerised by the atmosphere of musical inspiration as melodies and phrases are tossed back and forth, and a palpable current of energy flows between the two pianists. At her ProArte X concert, Johanna will be joined by the excellent chamber music pianist Danae Dörken.
