Sarah Willis & The Sarahbanda

This concert offers some Caribbean warmth during our cold, Hanseatic winter. Sarah Willis, solo horn with the Berlin Philharmoniker and a passionate fan of Cuban music and culture, is coming to the Hanseatic City of Hamburg with her ensemble The Sarahbanda to play melodies and rhythms from Cuba in a lively musical tribute to the genius of Mozart. With a twinkle in her eye, Sarah tells the story of her first visit to Cuba. The reason she travelled there was supposedly for a master class, but what she really wanted to do was dance salsa. She immediately fell in love with the country, the people, their melancholy charm, their lust for life and, of course, the music of this colourful Caribbean island. And why Mozart? Well, it is very easy to fall in love with his music too, so it is a perfect combination.
