Beethoven Sonatas III

With Beethoven at the top of the agenda in his 2027 anniversary year, there is no pianist more likely to be at the top of the list of performers than Igor Levit. His fascination with the great composer is ongoing. He sums up his feelings in one simple statement. “Beethoven is everything to me. His sonatas are filled with every possible emotion known to mankind”. For Levit, there will always be a reason to continue studying Beethoven’s music, new perspectives to discover and different interpretations to try out. This evening’s event is the third in a series of ProArte concerts over two seasons alternating between the Laeiszhalle and Elbphilharmonie in which Levit will play all Beethoven’s sonatas. The programme includes the famous Appassionata Piano Sonata, which is a particularly powerful example of the absolute emotion referred to by Levit.
